MG BGT in Glasgow, Steve

Hi to all ,

My name is Steve and i bought a rather nice MG BGT in Vermillion off Ebay 2 or so years ago for £300.00 ,

I dreamed off doing the odd job to get it mot'd and fix it as i go, but certian areas are too far gone structurally, so i have commenced a full restoration, and will be posting my efforts on this site, hopefully to inspire other newbies, and also myself, as it gets all rather daunting when you uncover more rust laden drama as you go,,,

Hi Steve,
I just came across your info about the MGB GT restoration. I live in Bearsden and I'm doing up an MGB roadster at the moment. It's a 1976rubber bumper model but I'm rebuilding it without the rubber bumpers.
I'm very impressed by the quality of the work you have been doing to your B GT. How is it going?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for getting in touch. I've been away for a few days and just spotted your message today.

I'm making some progress with my B roadster rebuild, but like yourself I have been diverted for a while on house repairs etc.
However I think I can now find enough time to get a run at it. I've sent away for Sebring type front and rear valences and I'm going to try to blend them into the existing bodywork so I don't have bumpers at all and the car has a kind of track racer look.
I've owned / run a couple of MGB GTs before so I know how much fun they are to drive.
Happy for you to came along and have a look if you want. It's not brilliant but it can help when you are doing a resto if you see what someone else is doing with theirs.

Hi Steve
Thanks very much for getting in touch again after all this time. It's truly amazing how the years go in.
I was making very good progress with the MGB for a while then had to put things on hold for a while due to work and other projects. I had planned to get on with it this spring to have it finished for the summer. However my Willys Jeep developed problems which meant that I have had to do a lot of work on it over the winter and I'm still working on it. I'm expecting to have it back on the road by the end of June after which I will get back to work on the MGB.
I'm keen to get started again because I've got a stack of new bits I bought for it waiting to be fitted.
Have you still got your MGB? I never did manage to come to have a look at it. Your workmanship looked very good in the photos.
